Belgium is a country of rich farmlands; known for its chocolate, diamonds, designer clothes, spices, furs & textiles. We camped at a beach by a lake with a park and recreation area called Blaarmeersen. We spent the weekend with Glenda’s niece Carmen who is currently living and working in Belgium. The weather was perfect for swimming, relaxing and taking in the sights. The town of Gent has many historic buildings to wander around and of course, we tasted Belgium’s speciality – Neuhaus chocolates.
Tomorrow, we head toward the Zeeland province in Holland to see part of the S.E. Coast before returning to France to catch the ferry from Dunkerque to Dover in England.

Enjoy the Belgian choccies and the tiny little bit you’re going to see of what’s probably one of the least visited corners of the Netherlands: Zeeland. Hope the weather’s nice. Not long now until we fly to Holland ourselves (just over 2 weeks). Shame that we’ll just miss each other…
Hi Martin and Glenda
The movie that I spoke about was not about Ghent but Bruges. Probably very similar places.
“In Bruges” was a 2008 black comedy crime film written and directed by Martin McDonagh. The film stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as two hitmen in hiding, with Ralph Fiennes as their gangster boss. The film takes placeāand was filmed within the Belgian city of Bruges. In Bruges was the opening night film of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
Colin Farrell won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for the film, while Martin McDonagh won a BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay.
If you get a chance it is worth seeing
Marty looks like he’s enjoying the slide. Great photos and glad you’re having fun.
