“Imagination is Everything” Albert Einstein

03 May 2010

“Limitations live only in our minds but if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless” Jamie Paolinetti
If you don’t know what you want - make it up. Develop a mental picture by visualising it as if it’s already happening. Use your imagination to fill in the blanks and help you connect and identify with what you are going for. When you’re in the world of imagination, become of aware of what you are experiencing via your senses - what you are seeing, touching/feeling, smelling, tasting, hearing? Ask yourself, if you were able to create the result you wanted, what would it look like? What would it feel like? What do you imagine it to be? Write down what you get; draw a picture.

Everyday, exercise your imagination to build capacity in order to see beyond the circumstances and broaden your ability to create what you want. You will develop expanded awareness that will begin to change your world.

“Experience is the result of being in imagination, where you have not yet been physically” Neville

It must have heart

05 Mar 2010

It’s easy to get off track and lose our way in pursuit of a goal.  We start off all inspired and motivated and as soon as we hit a hurdle of some description, we lose focus and get discouraged.    If we take our eye off the ball we may forget what we are here for and why we are doing what we are doing.  For our lives as well as business, we need to plan ahead, invest in the future, make the types of changes we need to, anticipate what will happen by creating what you want - being creative and taking the right action.  When you start making it about anything else, you will lose your soul or the soul of your business.  Whatever you do - must have heart.  Mindless ambition is soul-less.  At the centre of every heart, there is art - innate wisdom, natural talent and infinite creativity.  If you’re feeling like you’ve lost your way and a part of your soul - get back to ‘centre’, to the very ‘heart’ of things and go from there.

Bold statements for 2010

05 Jan 2010

Make them big so they scare you a little and excite you a lot!

Complete these statements:

“It is now December 2010 and I am…………………………………….”

“It is now December 2010 and I have………………………………….”

“It is now August 2010 and I am…………………………………..”

“It is now August 2010 and I have………………………………..”

“It is now May 2010 and I am…………………………………..”

“It is now May 2010 and I have………………………………..”

Take Action!

Now write the obvious action steps to take for each time-period, that will help you achieve what you want.

Congratulations, you are now on your way to creating a successful 2010!

Focus is everything

03 Nov 2009

I have recently been involved in a project that has tested me personally, as well as the theory my business is based on - to the ‘edge’.  By focussing on the ‘end result’ and imagining this result already achieved, I have been able to transcend many internal as well as external obstacles to create the desired result.  It has tested me (& the theory) in every way, however, applying the principles and ‘hanging with the tension’ has not only saved me but also the project.

You need to know how to work within a ’structural framework’ (as well as manage yourself) so that you can re-route the ‘path of least resistance’ so that it leads to advancement and accomplishment.  Only then will the techniques and processes you adopt (true creativity), will work to build a pattern of success.  The good news is - the future doesn’t have to be an extension of the past.  You can transcend any obstacles in your way by knowing what you want and keeping the focus on your ‘end result’ - no matter what!

Imagine applying the principle of transcendence in your business or organisation in such a way that you and your colleagues redesign the ways you work together by focussing on and creating what you want.  There’s more good news - you can begin anew, learning the lessons from the past and embracing new possibilities to achieve results that were previously thought impossible.

I encourage you to ‘keep the focus’, ‘hang with the tension’ (request this ‘tip’ if you want to learn how) and create the result you want.  Read the current ‘tip’ to learn more.  Please share a similar experience, via ‘comments’ - to encourage others.

What ‘drum’ are you beating?

14 Jul 2009

There is so much data, information, people, subjects, experience coming to us every day - potential for expansion  or contraction due to overload?  The fact is, it’s up to us.  Creating the results you want, is directly related to where your focus is.  To thrive in our complex world, we need to be conscious of what we are paying attention to, as “our focus creates our reality”.  When life is not going the way you want it to be, become aware of where your focus and energy is and shift it to what you want.  Knowing what you don’t want, means that you will be creating the very thing you are wanting to avoid: “what you resist persists”.  Out of all the activities you manage in a day, week, month, year - what’s important and good?  What do you need to drop?  Remember, life is meant to be fun!  It helps to do an ‘ecology check’ from time to time, by asking this question: “what supports me, others, as well as the planet”?.  Then you will be ‘beating a drum’ that has the rhythm and flow to give you energy and create a ‘path of least resistence’ toward creating the results you want.

A question to turn things around

06 Jul 2009

There are certain events that we initiate (or are initiated by someone / something else) that cause us a great deal of angst at the time.  There is that awful realisation “oh no, what am I going to do - this can’t be happening”.  At this point in time, we only see the negative, the down-side, the worst-possible scenario, etc. etc.  This happens to all of us, however, there is a question that can turn things around and help us refocus on what we want: “what’s right about this that I’m not getting?”.

Recently, I mistakenly deleted some information from the computer.  A sense of dread came over me as I began to fear the consequences.  Because I believe things happen for a reason and trust everything will work out for the best eventually - I remembered to ask this question and immediately, the answers came to me (as they are usually obvious).  I then started to refocus my attention on what I wanted which gave me the energy and motivation to take the right action to support this ‘end result’.  I am pleased to say, it had a good outcome, proving to be more beneficial than if I hadn’t deleted the information in the first place!

So, the next time something happens that you don’t want, ask this question - there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain!  You may also discover something interesting and even important, that you previously overlooked.

Let me know what you think - from your own experience.

Money Money Money !!

07 Jun 2009

I have just finished reading a book by Spencer Sherman: “The Cure for Money Madness”.  You can read a book review to find out more or listen to a teleseminar if you’re interested.  I found it excellent material, for getting clear about old money habits that get in the way of creating what you want.  I found the exercises very confronting but revealing.  “You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge” Dr Phil McGraw. The first step, is being aware of what’s going on so we are not just in ‘automatic pilot’ with regard to money decisions and transactions.  I like the way Spencer suggests ‘taking a money breath’ before we act, to prevent reacting from an emotional base.  I have certainly benefited from this read so it may help you as well - check it out!  To read more about money stuff - request a free article “Experiencing True Wealth” on my Tips page.

What’s strategic planning all about?

14 Apr 2009

A Strategic Plan provides a direction and focus to create results you want for the future. Having a clear direction, serves to align resources, integrate systems and provide effective action plans.

An integrated Strategic Plan details various strategies of key functional areas - such as Marketing - to implement the Plan. This alignment will produce a culture of true values and aspirations, providing momentum to generate desired outcomes.

A Strategic Plan contains the Vision, Mission and Values of the business / organisation, as well as the structure of how things work.
A clear vision provides focus to inspire and motivate people to create the results they want - for themselves or for their business / organization.

A Vision Statement provides a strategic direction for the Plan and Key Result Areas to enable the business / organization to move from where they are, to where they want to be.
Key Performance Indicators ensure Key Result Areas can be measured to determine the effectiveness of the Plan.

It is important to monitor the Plan regularly, so that any adjustments can be made on an ongoing basis. A more formal evaluation is suggested at 6-monthly intervals, to ensure ongoing reviewing and planning.

Developing the Plan - as a team - will ensure input and ownership of the Plan’s business and service (or product) development as well as operations.

Remember to celebrate the achievement of the Plan!

Use ‘comments’ to request Applied Vision’s approach to strategic planning or request an appointment to develop your strategic plan -  I’ll show you a way that’s fun & easy!

Always complete

14 Apr 2009

To complete - is to close a door, finish a chapter or tie up loose ends and say ‘farewell’. To complete - is to experience a sense of satisfaction and achievement, to put any ‘failures’ or disappointments to rest and celebrate - moving on. To complete - is to go forward with purpose and anticipation, thankful of the past and hopeful for the future. When one is complete - all things are made clear, energy is renewed, a new path is created. It is then one is free to experience the contentment of the present due to the task of completion.
To read more about the importance of completion, go to ‘tips’ and request this topic via the form at the bottom of the page.
