Do you have difficulty trusting others?

23 Mar 2009

I hear people say, they have difficulty trusting others.  You can only trust others once you trust yourself.  “Aahh” I hear you say “THIS is what’s difficult”.  Trusting yourself involves knowing ‘who you are and what you want’.  When you ‘hold on to yourself’ you can confidently go into the world and not lose yourself to someone or something else.  It’s tuning-in to your own inner-wisdom / intuition and trusting what your ‘gut’ tells you - it’s there to serve you and will never let you down.  Let this be your guide in trusting others and the world around you.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts or experience of ‘trust’.

What a delightful ‘thought for the day’ blog system!!!! Thank you.

I would like to add: that ones intuition may never let one down, however it may be wise not to be attached to outcomes, as the universe may have other plans and deliver you on some other life-enhancing trajectory!!! This for me is where the trust lies.

Recognizing who I am and what I want to be - That is HARD… I have always found it very easy to give myself away to other people. I have a knee jerk reaction of guilt when I trust my gut and make decisions which serve me first.
I really enjoyed this blog on Trust and have spent the week practicing this Trust my gut concept in everything - thanks Glenda - it feels good.

I understand what you are saying, my problem is that I have believed others before and found my trust misplaced.. so now I am very suspicious of everyone and prone to a bit of paranoia.. I no longer trust myself to know when to trust.. how can I overcome that?

Thanks for your comment - you are not alone. I, along with many others, have experienced what you describe. What I have since discovered is, when I trust my own intuition above everything and everyone else, it doesn’t let me down. As I learn to trust myself more, it is easier to trust others and the world. By trusting my own inner-self, I also become more trustworthy. By tuning in to your own inner truth and wisdom and really listening and taking notice of what it has to say, you become stronger in yourself and able to make choices that support you first that will also serve others. You will then attract the right people around you that support who you are and what you want. I hope this makes sense. I wish you peace and freedom.
